ARTstor does have the Art History Survey collection which includes.

The Art History Survey Collection, which contains nearly 5000 images, is the product of a collaboration between the Digital Library Federation's Academic Image Cooperative project and the College Art Association. This "survey collection" has been defined on the basis of an "overlap concordance" based on 13 standard art history survey texts, some consulted in multiple editions (please see Textbook Concordance below). It is intended to include at least one image of every art object or monument reproduced in at least two of these standard survey texts. The Art History Survey Collection represents an experiment in defining a "consensus collection" that supports widespread teaching needs, but does not yoke the teacher or student to any one particular text, pedagogical approach, or "canon." Images in this collection are based on professionally produced 35mm–color photography, much of it original photography produced from the object or monument. A significant portion of the images were also derived from high-quality reproductions of the scholarly literature. This collection will be of particular value to teachers of art history who wish to enlist digital technologies in support of survey instruction; to teachers without ready access to conventional slide libraries and other visual resources collections; and to all individuals wishing to gain a broad appreciation of the world's visual heritage.

Perhaps the most extraordinary characteristic of current America is the attempt to reduce life to buying and selling.
Life is not knowledge save knowledge of technique, of science for destruction.
Life is not beauty except beauty for sale.
Life is not art unless its price is high and it is sold for profit.
All life is production for profit, and for what is profit but for buying and selling again?

Anne and all. We have had the same type of request from several art instructors here. It would be useful to have some way for art teachers to pull up all images relating to standard texts.

However, this  type of thing might be proprietary to the publisher of the text I would imagine. Same question to ARTStor: is this possible?

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Images for basic Art History 100 type course

Hello Brilliant ones,

I have a vague memory of the announcement by ArtStor that they were loading images for a basic 100 level course-does anyone know if this was based on a particular text(like Stokstad) and if it is searchable as if it were in the text of that book? We are trying to figure out how to make images available to students without doing an image by image search. Are also exploring what prentice hall is calling MyArtsLab…it looks like it is a supplementary thing, but am having a devil of a time finding a good explanation of it on their site…

Any and all information will be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Anne
