Error during command authentication.

Ian, thanks for responding to us about this change.  It’s helpful to know why this change was made and that the data will be anonymous.  Will this data also be featured in the ARTstor stats portion of the site? 

 

I think another concern that we have here at UNC is that our users – particularly student users - will be discouraged from completing downloads.  Were you able to conduct any usability studies of this new function before implementing?

ARTstor has recently started to require users to register before downloading images from ARTstor.  This information - which includes the email that you use to register and a disciplinary affiliation - will help us better serve you and other ARTstor users:  The information will allow us to build future collections that best meet users' needs. We will also use the anonymized data to provide feedback to museums and other collection providers, which plays a very helpful role in making the case for their broadly sharing their collections to the educational community through ARTstor.  And institutions using Shared Shelf will also have a better understanding of how their institutional collections are being used.  

 

This information will be collected and used only in accordance with our privacy policy, which can be found at http://www.artstor.org/our-organization/o-pdf/privacy-policy.pdf.  In accordance with our privacy policy, we only share such information in very limited instances, such as with your institutional administrator to facilitate your institution's use of ARTstor collections.  We do not sell or make commercial uses of your information.
