To all those libraries that collect auction catalogs:

It appears that Sothebys have redesigned their website and no longer offer the option to print off a simple price list, as before. The only option now is to print an “e-catalogue”, which is a PDF that also includes an image of the item sold. These new lists run for pages and pages so it is no longer feasible to insert them into the auction catalog, as we were previously doing. The price lists are of course available online to anyone who needs them, but our concern is that we don’t know what Sothebys’ plans are for archiving these lists.

We would be very interested to hear from other libraries that collect Sothebys auction catalogs and tip in price lists to discover what you might be planning to do now that Sothebys have made this change. Or if anyone knows anything regarding Sothebys plans for archiving digital price lists…

Thanks,
