Dear members,

Among the exciting possibilities generated in the wake of our recent conference in Minneapolis was the potential for more regular joint conferences between the VRA and ARLIS/NA. Specifically, proposals were put forth at the annual Membership Meeting and at the Organizational Collaboration: Building Bridges between ARLIS/NA and VRA forum to host joint conferences between the organizations every three years.

As expressed in my message to the membership on March 31, much good will was established between the members and Boards of both organizations during our 2nd joint conference. And based upon preliminary data, all signs point to a very financially fruitful conference.

Thus, the ARLIS/NA Executive Board will devote its June Board conference call to this subject. We will then conduct a joint conference call with select members of both the VRA and ARLIS/NA Boards to discuss the possibility of moving forward with this proposal.

We can assure you that we will strive to find common ground that meets the missions of both organizations, while remaining mindful of the significant logistical and financial implications that this might have for ARLIS/NA in the years ahead.

As always, the Board welcomes your thoughts and ideas on this critical issue and other issues facing our Society.

Sincerely,
