Together with the assistance of the IFLA Art Section Satellite meeting planners, the ARLIS/NA  International Relations Committee has organized an exciting study tour of libraries, archives, museums, and galleries in the Mexico City region, to take place August 20-26.  The specially-designed tour will incorporate and extend the IFLA program at the Franz Meyer museum, in order to offer attendees the unparalleled opportunity to visit many outstanding collections in the area.

Following the IFLA Satellite Meeting at the Franz Meyer Museum on August 20-21, our group, escorted by local experts, will make visits to major library and art collections, with behind the scenes tours and displays of special collections.  Privately hosted receptions at homes and galleries of prominent collectors will offer exclusive access to Mexico City’s thriving contemporary art scene.  The tour ends on August 26, with a bus trip to the beautiful colonial city of Puebla, where visits to the renowned Biblioteca Polifoxiana and Museo Amparo are planned.  We should also mention that outstanding accommodations, along with the best food and drink to be found in Mexico, will be offered, thanks to our contacts in Mexico and beyond.   Friends, scholars, curators, food critics, cookbook authors, staff of Mexican consulates and the Mexican Cultural Institute in New York, along with various bon vivants, have advised us on the Best of Mexico, insuring that both time-honored and recently discovered destinations will be included.

Highlights of the tour include:
