Antoinette Forrester Downing Book Award - established in 1987, the Downing award honors excellence in a published work devoted to historical topics in preservation. Randall Mason The Once and Future New York: Historic Preservation and the Modern City University of Minnesota Press, 2009 Alice Davis Hitchcock Book Award - established in 1949, the Hitchcock award recognizes annually the most distinguished work of scholarship in the history of architecture published by a North American scholar. Eeva-Liisa Pelkonen Alvar Aalto: Architecture, Modernity, and Geopolitics Yale University Press, 2009 Philip Johnson Exhibition Catalogue Award- established in 1990, The Johnson award recognizes excellence in published exhibition catalogues. Andrew Blauvelt Worlds Away: New Suburban Landscapes Walker Art Center, 2008 Spiro Kostof Book Award - established in 1994, the Kostof award recognizes the work that, focusing on urbanism and architecture, provides the greatest contribution to our understanding of historical development and change. Two awards were given for 2011. Çiğdem Kafescioğlu Constantinopolis / Istanbul: Cultural Encounter, Imperial Vision, and the Construction of the Ottoman Capital Penn State University Press, 2009 Dell Upton Another City: Urban Life and Urban Spaces in the New American Republic Yale University Press, 2008 Elisabeth Blair MacDougall Award - established in 2006 to recognize annually the most distinguished work of scholarship in the history of landscape architecture or garden design. Anne Goldgar Tulipmania: Money, Honor, and Knowledge in the Dutch Golden Age University of Chicago Press, 2007 Founders' Award - established in 1970, the Founders' Award recognizes the best article on the history of architecture published by an emerging scholar in the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians.
