Dear Librarians, Yesterday afternoon Abrams reported to us that they now have only about 30 copies of their recently released publication of the collected writings of Werner Spies remaining in their warehouse, and they warn that any libraries still interested in acquiring this title should order promptly. WERNER SPIES: THE EYE AND THE WORD -- COLLECTED WRITINGS ON ART AND LITERATURE, THE GAGOSIAN EDITION. Translation of Auge und Wort: Gesammelte Schriften zu Kunst und Literatur (Berlin University Press, 2008). Werner Spies. Ed. by Thomas W. Gaehtgens. Abrams, New York. Published in association with Berlin University Press and Gagosian Gallery, New York, 2011. LC 2010-934623 ISBN 978-0-8109-9835-3 In English. Ten volumes / Hardcover, boxed $250.00 (less 20% library discount through Worldwide) Worldwide Item: 142723 As previously announced to our clients in Worldwide's monthly electronic newsletter, only 250 copies of this important 10-volume set were made available to Abrams for U.S. distribution, and apparently only 500 copies in total were produced for sale worldwide. As the first English-language edition of the collected writings of this prominent curator and critic, it is an important publication that many art libraries will want to acquire. Worldwide has offered the title since it was released in February, and we still have a limited number of copies on hand. However, Abrams anticipates that their stock may be depleted within the next few weeks, if not days, and we wanted to alert libraries to the situation before it is declared to be out of print. The publication is very economically priced considering that it is a ten-volume set; I have attached a PDF with more information on the title. Orders may be submitted directly to Worldwide through our Web site. The set is of course also available through other sources.
