An appeal to the collective wisdom –
An art and architectural history faculty member here at Roger
Williams University is searching for images of the WPA era murals located in
the Recorder of Deeds Building in Washington, DC. Her article on the
murals has been accepted for publication and she is looking for a source of publication-quality
color photographs of some of the murals. She is an excellent researcher
and has already run down many leads (including the images by dbking that appear
on Flickr), but has not had luck finding a source of print-quality photos of
the murals. Black and white images taken at the time the murals were
created are available through the National Archives, but she is hoping to locate
color images for the article. As I understand it, the building is
currently closed (the offices were relocated) so she is hoping to find a source
of existing photos rather than having to go through the process of having them
photographed. I said I would put out the call to the list in case someone
might know of a lead. Please reply to me off-list and thanks to everyone
for considering this request.
