Dear colleagues,

John Walsh, Associate University Librarian; Cynthia Holt, Head,
Collection Development & Preservation; and Gretchen Reynolds, Social
Sciences Liaison Librarian, all of George Mason University, are writing
a book chapter about increasing interdisciplinarity in academia and how
academic and research libraries are experiencing and responding to this
trend, specifically in the area of collection development.

With this in mind, we would like to invite you to participate in a
short survey that includes the following questions.

1.Have you observed increasing interdisciplinarity in your University
community or in your University Library? If so, how?

2.How is your library or institution responding to increased
interdisciplinarity in academia?

3.What effect has interdisciplinarity had on your collection development
practices and activities?

4.Is your library using a particular approach to respond to
interdisciplinarity in general or in collection development? If so,
please describe.

5.What is working well and what challenges do you still face in your
collection development approach to increasing interdisciplinarity in
academia?
