This was posted yesterday, and for some reason the text was jammed together, so I am posting it again.
I hope that today it will come out formatted the way I arranged it.
Andrew D. Washton Books on the Fine Arts411 East 83rd Street, New York, New York10028(914) 933 [log in to unmask]
A collection of books and catalogues on:
DUTCH AND FLEMISH PAINTINGS: PRIVATE
COLLECTIONS: APPROXIMATELY 725 TITLES.I have available, for purchase, a collection of aprox. 725 titles (some titles consist of more
than one volume) of private owner collectionsof Dutch and Flemish 15th-18th century paintings.
These consist of auction sale catalogues, exhibition catalogues, and catalogues privately
published by the owners. Some are recent; many are from the 19th century.(The oldest title is an
auction sale catalogue from Amsterdam, 1800, the Gildemeister Collection.)Quite a number are
annotated with prices and buyers’ names. Most of these publications were produced in Germany,
France, Holland, and Belgium. The majority are illustrated; many of the older volumes
are illustrated with etchings and engravings; some are illustrated with original photographs.
They range in size from unillustrated octavo volumes to heavy folios. The condition of most
is very good or better.I note probably needlessly that most of these publications are quite scarce.
It has taken the owner of this collection over 40 years to put this group together. With the internet it might not take 40 years to put this group together again,
but it would still take a long time. Many of the older titles are not obtainable at all.A title list is available; it is arranged in alphabetical order, by collection name.I will be pleased to send this list as an attachment.I can also send a hard copy,
if it is requested.N.b: This collection is being offered as a unit. Please write if you have an
interest in this material.Thank you.As art dealers are wont to say:price upon application.
But I will send the list to anyone who just wants to take a look at it.
