Barbara will always remembered as the insightful librarian and the great human being she was. I had met Barbara when we both served on the visiting committee to the Thomas J. Watson Library at the Metropolitan Museum . ARLIS was only a twinkle in our eyes at that time and not all colleagues saw the need for such an organization. Barbara, however did and became one of the staunchest early members . I shall never forget the weekend in Philadelphia where she and her husband hosted he Board Meeting that preceded the Philadelphia Conference .For three days Barbara's charming house in Jenkintown, with its large garden was turned into a floating conference site. Barbara's husband who combined his profession of of professor of pharmacology with an avocation of gourmet chef and very astute wine steward spoiled and inspired us in our deliberations. Such inspiration produced , among other things, also the name change of the Society's newsletter to ART DOCUMENTATION. After her retirement Barbara collected quite a coterie of aficionados as a volunteer guide at the Museum.Peace be with you, Barbara. It was a privilege and a joy knowing you Wolfgang Freitag -----Original Message----- From: Sherman Clarke Sent: Monday, November 15, 2010 4:07 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [ARLIS-L] Barbara Sevy Mary and all, Barbara was a solid voice in our cataloging discussions at the ARLIS/NA conferences, back in the day when we did lots of original cataloging and as we were moving into the world of shared RLIN cataloging. I remember her fondly. Thanks for posting the link to the obituary; the picture is very evocative.
