VRAF Professional Development Grant
The purpose of the grant is to support professional development, including attendance or enrollment at an educational conference, or participation in research activities in the field of visual resources and image management. The 2010-2011 award will provide a single grant of $850 to support attendance at an educational event of the grantee’s choosing (such as an association conference, symposium or workshop), or enrollment in relevant research activities.

The grant is open to professionals, including retirees and those currently unemployed, and students seeking educational, training, and research opportunities in support of broad access to cultural information.  This is an open grant and membership in the VRA is not required. The applicants stated financial need will be considered and other applications for funding for the same event or project must be disclosed by the applicant. Award monies may be used for: transportation, registration, lodging accommodations, meals, and approved research expenses.

The grant may NOT be used to support attendance at the 2011 VRA annual conference, nor the 2011 Summer Educational Institute.

The application must be received no later than FRIDAY, JULY 16, 2010. The recipient of the 2010-2011 VRA Foundation Professional Development Grant will be announced on August 13, 2010 and the grant is for use between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011.

The VRAF Professional Development Grant is part of the Foundation's mission to advance awareness of important issues for digital information management; encourage the application of professional standards, innovative technology, and metadata cataloging protocols; facilitate workplace training; and promote awareness of intellectual property rights and copyright issues. The VRAF supports a range of educational offerings to help ensure that such information reaches a diverse and global audience.
