We are very pleased to announce the appointment of James Rout as
University Librarian.

James will be taking his new post in September after working as Head of
Library and Archives Services at The Banff Centre, a position he has
held since 2006. James was also Head Librarian from 2004-2006 and Art
Librarian from 1999-2004 at The Banff Centre.

In his capacity as Head of Library and Archives Services, James led the
development and implementation of an award-winning streaming media
system. He also led the implementation of The Banff Centre on iTunes U,
and the planning and transition to a new state-of-the-art library and
archives facility in the Kinnear Centre for Creativity and Innovation
which will open in July.

James is involved in a number of professional activities which include
his role as Canadian Representative on the Art Libraries Society of
North America Executive Board, Chair of the Art Libraries Society of
North America Canadian Chapter, and Director of the Alberta Library
Board to name only a few.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sheila Wallace who
is retiring after many years of excellent service. As many of you
already know, Sheila will be spending time at her new home on Saturna
Island and we wish her the best in this new adventure.
