Good afternoon, I've been asked by a graduate student how she should cite - in MLA - artwork printed on a cube she purchased in a museum shop. The images are in the collection of an Irish library; we hoped to find them in a published catalog but unfortunately it didn't contain the images she has used. I've looked at the MLA handbook various and online sources, but can't find any guidance for citing an object. And the rules for reproductions of visual art all assume some sort of printed textual or online source. Aside of contacting the Irish library - which' I've suggested to the student - I don't know if there are other options. Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated - thank you, Maryke Barber ********************************** Maryke Barber, MSIS Outreach and Arts Liaison Librarian Wyndham Robertson Library Hollins University www.hollins.edu/library PO Box 9000 Roanoke, VA 24020 540/362-6328 [log in to unmask] www.hollins.edu/library __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/join.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Judy Dyki) at: [log in to unmask]
