THE FIRST BOOK OF ITS KIND: a paper sample book, an herbal, and a livre
d'artiste. Includes 21 folders, each with a sheet of hand-made paper
produced by Geneviève Sicre: 7 sheets made of pulp (eucalyptus bark,
papyrus, rice, etc.), 7 made of fiber (hydrangea, iris, yucca, etc), and 7
made of leaves (chestnut, oak, poplar, etc.). Each sheet is accompanied by
a letterpress description of the plant as well as complete information (in
manuscript) as to exactly where and when it was gathered for the production
of the leaf. ALL OF THE SHEETS ARE MADE FROM PLANTS FOUND IN THE AREA OF
CARCASSONNE, FRANCE. Furthermore, accompanying each leaf is AN ORIGINAL
LINOLEUM CUT BY SICRE DEPICTING THE PLANT IN QUESTION. Printed on extremely
fine Arches wove paper. EDITION LIMITED TO 25 NUMBERED COPIES ALL SIGNED BY
SICRE. Tall 4to. Bound in decorated paper-covered boards in the Japanese
style, with the stitching visible at the spine.
