New Business – JSTOR Petition (Patricia Kosco
Cossard) (10 minutes) + discussion (10 minutes)
“Whereas
JSTOR is the academic libraries’ most reliable source of digitally
archived journal literature; and
Whereas JSTOR
has currently digitized only seven architectural titles; and
Whereas the
Association of Architecture School Librarians (AASL) authors and maintains a
current “Core list of periodical titles for a first-degree program in architecture”
which is accepted by the National Architectural Accrediting Board as standard
architecture library holdings,
Therefore, we
the Architecture Section of the Art Librarians Society of North America
(Arlis/NA) resolve to petition JSTOR to comprehensively collect and make
available an archival copy of these titles to academic libraries.”
