Greetings!

I have compiled a brief list of art mysteries set in the Boston/Cambridge area, which is below.  Although the two mystery bookstores have closed, they both maintain a website.
Spenser's Mystery Books http://www.spensersmysterybooks.com
Kate's Mystery Books  http://www.katesmysterybooks.com/

Whether you read hard-boiled, cozies, thrillers, or noir--or are just interested in mysteries--please attend the Mystery Readers Dinner scheduled for Sunday evening at 7 pm.

Boston/Cambridge Mysteries

The most recent art mystery is David Hosp’s Among thieves, which takes the 20-year-old Isabella Stewart Gardner theft as its subject.  Jane Langton also wrote a mystery on the topic, titled Murder at the Gardner.  I believe one of the books in Charlotte MacLeod’s Sarah Kelling/ Max Bittersohn series is on the same subject.

Following is a list of Boston-area art mysteries.

Collins, Eliza.  Going, going, gone.  1986.  Boston art gallery.

Coxe, George Harman.  An easy way to go.  1969.  Kent Murdock; Boston
-----.  Jade Venus.  1945.  Kent Murdock; Boston art theft

Davey, Jocelyn. A Treasury alarm.  1980.  Boston.  Art swindle.

Dean, Elizabeth.  Murder is a collector’s item.  1939.  Emma Marsh, Boston antiques dealer.
-----. Murder is a serious business.  1940.  Emma Marsh, Boston antiques dealer.

Elkins, Aaron.  Loot.  1999.

Fuller, Timothy.  Harvard has a homicide.  1936.  Art theft.

Heyman, Evan Lee.  The Thomas Crown affair.  1968.  Art theft

Kilmer, Nicholas.  Fred Taylor series.
Some of you may remember when Mr. Kilmer spoke at the Houston conference.

Knight, Kathryn Lasky.  Calista Jacobs, children’s book illustrator series.

Langton, Jane.  Homer and Mary Kelly series, many of which are set in Cambridge.

MacDonald, Donna.  Murder at the Copley.  2007.  Art theft and murder in 1941.

MacLeod, Charlotte.  Sarah Kelling & Max Bittersohn series.

Manuel, David. A Matter of Principle.  2003.  Boston museum theft.

Parker, Robert B.  The Godwulf Manuscript.  1974.  Spenser, private detective.

Taylor, Sarah Stewart.  O artful death.  2003.  Sweeney St. George, Cambridge, Mass. art historian specializing in death art.
-----.  Mansions of the dead.  2004.
-----.  Judgment of the grave.  2005
-----.  Still as death.  2006.

Finally, there is Boston noir (2009), a collection of stories set in a different neighborhood of the city - the impressively diverse collection extends from Cambridge to Southie and Roxbury and all stops in between.  Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River and The Given day and master of both crime fiction and literary fiction, extends his literary prowess to that of master curator.
