The Exquisite Line: Balancing the old and new in arts libraries

ARLIS/ANZ 2010 Conference

Darwin

15 – 17 September 2010

Explore and consider the potential of art libraries in the 21st century.  Join ARLIS/ANZ at Australia’s Top End in convivial Darwin for an inspiring conference to be held at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. The conference is timed to coincide with the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to extend your knowledge of Indigenous art and culture and the role of libraries in its survival and dissemination. The conference will also examine ways to integrate the traditional and the new and will explore 21st century skills of innovation, technology, and collaboration. Two days of challenging papers and insightful tours of galleries and libraries will be followed by optional tours to Bathurst Island visiting Tiwi Design and to Kakadu visiting Ubirr Art Site and the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

To help us plan the conference, we’d love to receive your non-binding expression of interest in attending (e-mail to [log in to unmask]). A call for papers and a call for proposals for travel grants will follow in a short while.
