How about the “animated furniture”

Greetings colleagues:
A student is looking for artists who take ordinary objects and embellish them
so that their purpose, while evident, is masked somewhat by the surface
decoration.
I have in my mind a table and a mirror that have plastic toys, Cracker Jack
items, etc. attached to them. These items a kind of like coral reefs of
popular culture. There was also an artist who decorated cars - with
plastic items, even grass.
Unfortunately my memory bank is not retrieving information today and I can't
think of their names or the names of other artists who do similar work.
Can anyone give me a hand here with any names of artists who do these types of
objects?
Much appreciated in advance!
Moira
