Sincerely, Kristen Regina ________________________________ From: ART LIBRARIES SOCIETY DISCUSSION LIST [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Kristen Regina Sent: Monday, February 01, 2010 2:27 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [ARLIS-L] Kress European Travel Award--applications now being accepted Importance: High Dear Colleagues, The application period for the The Samuel H. Kress Foundation Award for European Travel is now open. Applications will be accepted until March 15. All ARLIS/NA members in good standing who have had a paper accepted at a European conference relevant to the field of art librarianship or visual resources curatorship are eligible for the award. International conferences include, but are not limited to, AKMB, ARLIS/Norden, ARLIS/UK & Ireland, IFLA, and OKBN*ARLIS/NL. The award is for $1000, and is intended to defray travel costs (air and then ground) and then toward their accommodations. The application can be found at: http://www.arlisna.org/about/awards/awards_index.html. The winner will be announced at the ARLIS/NA conference in Boston. If the award winner has a travel need before the April conference, or shortly thereafter, we will notify them in advance of the conference. The ARLIS/NA International Relations Committee (IRC) was founded in 1996 as the conduit between ARLIS/NA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), and other major international art organizations. Today, the main charge of the IRC is to implement the ARLIS/NA vision to pursue partnerships with librarians and institutions outside of North America in a collaborative effort to support the Society as the leading organization in the arts information field. The IRC has been exploring ways to provide support for ARLIS/NA members who wish to attend and present at conferences. Given the current economic situation, it has been difficult for ARLIS/NA members to get institutional funding for these trips. We are grateful for the Kress Foundation's generosity in helping fulfill the important mission of developing relationships with our colleagues in Europe.
