We have been using ARTstor since the fall of 2005 and find it a tremendous value. We have been slowly moving our faculty, individually, to this resource. We target one or two faculty members a semester and work with them directly to help them move from 35mm dependency to digital. The faculty love the 'folders' and ARTstor's proprititory off line viewer (Power Point) the OIV. It is used heavily by our faculty, students and staff. Last years 'circulation' figures were: 25,195 - up slightly from the previous year when there were 23,637 viewings of images. We are a small college with slightly over 1000 FTEs. I have not only been impressed with this image bank, but also with ARTstor's customer service. The staff at ARTstor are keen on knowing any issues which arise and solving them as quickly as possible. Hope this is helpful. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions. Christine Christine E. Are they considered a good value for the amount invested? Could they be replaced with Google image? Are they used primarily by faculty or students? I will appreciate any information or opinion on these databases. Thanks, Marilyn __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/join.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Judy Dyki) at: [log in to unmask] __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/join.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Judy Dyki) at: [log in to unmask]
