Friends,

I am stumped and I hope you can help me. A student is working on a song by William Bolcom (american composer). He wrote a cabaret song called Black Max (as told by the De Kooning Boys). He needs to find information about who Black Max is, was it a fictional character or fact? I found the score, but cannot find background information about the character in the song, Black Max -- De Kooning Boys. Is this in reference to William De Kooning- the painter. Was Black Max a subject of De Kooning works?

Any information is really appreciated.

Alessia
