Only in New York: Photographs from Look Magazine is the first publication to exclusively draw from the Museum of the City of New York ’s LOOK collection, a highlight of the Museum’s renowned photography holdings. Join co-authors Donald Albrecht and Thomas Mellins as they explore the fascinating story of LOOK Magazine , and how, more than any other publication, it captured New York’s twin identity during the post WWII period: a city that was both a collection of distinctive neighborhoods and a newly minted international capital.

Donald Albrecht is the curator of architecture and design at the Museum of the City of New York . His recent exhibitions at the museum include The Mythic City: Photographs of New York by Samuel H. Gottscho 1925-1940 and Paris / New York : Design/Fashion/Culture/1925-1940.

Thomas Mellins is an architectural historian and independent curator specializing in New York . He is the co-author, with Robert A.M. Stern, of New York 1880 , New York 1930 , and New York 1960. He has organized exhibitions at the Museum of the City of New York , the National Building Museum , and Yale University .

Architectural Explorations in Books is a new series of engaging programs delving into the critical role that architecture books play in the understanding of contemporary urban developments and structures. The events feature book presentations and discussions by world acclaimed architects, critics, curators, photographers and writers.
