In 2009, the ARLIS/SC Nominating Committee sought nominations for the
positions of Vice-Chair/Chair Elect (three year term as Vice-Chair;
Chair; Past-Chair) and Secretary (two year term).
We received one nomination for each office. The nominees have confirmed
their willingness to serve, thus these nominees are now our newly
elected board members.  
We are pleased to announce the ARLIS/SC Chapter 2010 Board:Alyssa

Below is information about our newly elected board members. Please join
us in congratulating our new officers! 
Krista Ivy
Biography
Krista Ivy is a Reference/Instruction Librarian at the University of
California, Riverside where she serves as the Art and Art History
Subject Specialist. She received her MA in Art History from Binghamton
University and her MLS at the University at Buffalo. Presently she
serves on the ARLIS/NA Research Awards Committee, is the Moderator of
the ARLIS/NA Teaching Librarians Discussion Group, and is the Co-Chair
of the ARLIS/NA Diversity Committee.
Statement of Goals
While serving as Vice-Chair/Chair Elect of the Southern California
Chapter of ARLIS/NA, my goals are to provide stimulating meetings and
discussions for the membership, to promote the mission of ARLIS/NA and
the goals of the Southern California Chapter as stated in the Bylaws,
and to further develop the Chapter’s Blog to best meet the communication
needs of the members and the public.
Virginia Allison
Biography
Virginia Allison has been the Research Librarian for Visual Arts
(Studio Art, Art History, Film and Media Studies, and Visual Studies)
and Dance at The University of California, Irvine since August 2008. She
arrived from Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, where she
was Assistant Librarian/Visual Resources Curator. In this capacity,
Virginia built a searchable digital archive of student and copy work,
launched a library instruction program, and curated an enviable zine
collection. In the spring of 2008, Virginia won a travel award to attend
the annual Visual Resources Association conference. At the UC Irvine
Libraries Virginia chairs the Exhibits Team and is actively involved in
instruction, collection development, reference, and research. Her
research interests meet at the intersection of new media and visual
literacy. As a member of ARLIS/SC, Virginia volunteered to serve on the
2008 Travel Awards Committee. She is currently a mentor in the ARLIS/NA
program and is the vice-moderator of ARLIS/NA’s Reference Instruction
Services Section (RISS). Virginia has a Master’s Degree in Library and
Information Science from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of
Fine Arts from the University of Montevallo (Alabama).

Statement of Goals:Provide accurate and timely minutes of all meetings,
in addition to the maintenance and organization of Chapter documents,
such as an updated roster of Chapter Members. Provide excellent
coordination and communication with other ARLIS/SC Board Members, and
our Chapter Members, as appropriate. Assist the ARLIS/SC Chapter in
making our blog a dynamic and user-friendly mode of communication.
Assist the ARLIS/SC Board in planning for and executing programmatic
endeavors such as business meetings, and the Mentorship Program.
