I think that maybe we should allow a little more time for more submissions say sometime in February. But I do think that everyone is going to have an opinion no matter what. Isn’t that the nature of art?

I voted, but it was because I thought the covers would change.

So, I have to agree if we're going to stick to one cover, none of the issues, though all very interesting in their own right, are not resilient enough in my opinion to be on the cover all the time.

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Art Doc cover

Hi:

I've just looked at the nine candidates for the Art Doc design competition.  In my opinion, of the nine entries, only no. 1 comes close to being as good as or (perhaps) better than our current cover.  I hesitate to fill out the voting form because I don't feel that the choices are adequate.  I'm sure the committee has worked long and hard on this project.  Perhaps the lack of choices is because there were not enough entries?  Then let's give it some more time.  Let's not choose a different design just for the sake of change.  By the way, it wasn't clear, but I'm assuming that in the case of no. 1, the cover art would change from issue to issue, so we would be voting for the typography and its placement only?  I think it would be great to have a different image on each issue's cover, but is that OK with the editorial board, who would have to choose (and perhaps pay for) a different image for each issue?
