For those that have not yet checked it out, the surveymonkey online form for voting on the Art Doc cover does provide an option to decline any of the proposed images and continue with the current design. I think that the publications committee would prefer that those of us that are not satisfied with the current candidates use this option rather than abstaining as that will make it more clear that we actually have an opinion.

The discussion that is being generated is positive and should provide the committee with additional considerations in starting over again. I agree with Jenny that solicitating a professional design or using a graphic design class at a professional school would be a good way to go. I would love to see a new, fresh design for Art Doc if it is truly better than what we currently have.

I'm abstaining on this ballot cuz I agree with Joan et al. Of the two I liked best, I felt they seemed to a bit too feminine (whatever that means) and perhaps not the best way to represent all of our members, imho

Perhaps this is why we’re being sent ballots, so that all will have the opportunity to vote for the cover they like best.

    I have to agree.

    Hi:

I've just looked at the nine candidates for the Art Doc design competition. In my opinion, of the nine entries, only no. 1 comes close to being as good as or (perhaps) better than our current cover. I hesitate to fill out the voting form because I don't feel that the choices are adequate. I'm sure the committee has worked long and hard on this project. Perhaps the lack of choices is because there were not enough entries? Then let's give it some more time. Let's not choose a different design just for the sake of change. By the way, it wasn't clear, but I'm assuming that in the case of no. 1, the cover art would change from issue to issue, so we would be voting for the typography and its placement only? I think it would be great to have a different image on each issue's cover, but is that OK with the editorial board, who would have to choose (and perhaps pay for) a different image for each issue?
