Dear colleagues

I am writing an article about the library of a Canadian artist, Fritz Brandtner (1896-1969), which we have here in our special collections. Brandtner annotated his books fairly extensively and decorated some of them. I am looking to find some comparative writing, if I can, on the libraries of other artists, and the insights into their life and work which can be derived from studying their libraries.

I have a few leads so far, e.g.:

- lists of books included in the catalogue raisonnes for Jackson Pollock and Barnett Newman

- Sol LeWitt’s autobiography with photos of his library

- seminar on authors’ and artists’ libraries at the RBMS pre-conference in Austin TX in 2006, for which I have not however seen any published proceedings: http://www.rbms.info/conferences/preconferences/2006/schedule/program/pdf/RBMS_2006_Schedule.pdf

If you can add to this, please reply to me off-list, and thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Jonathan
