Michael Kukla Shades of Light December 1, 2009 – January 3, 2010 Art in the Windows On view day and night Mid-Manhattan Library The Art Collection 40th Street @ 5th Avenue New York , NY 10016 212-340-0871 The Art Collection at Mid-Manhattan Library is pleased to present Shades of Light by the emerging American Czech artist Michael Kukla. In this site specific installation two marble sculptures offer a playground for light and shadow. The shapes resemble an ecological evolution resulting form the movement of time, water, and wind. The Vermont marble used in Shades of Light is the same stone used in the construction of the Library’s landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building and other important historic buildings in the United States . Florence Neal, co-founder and director of Kentler International Drawing Space , will join Kukla for an Artist Dialogue on Saturday December 19 th at 2:30 p.m. on the 6 th floor.
