Dear ARLIS/NA members

 

The competition to design a new cover for Art Documentation was announced on 14 August and launched on 14 September. Entries were invited from ARLIS/NA members and design students at ARLIS/NA members' institutions. 9 submissions were received by the 6 November deadline. Members were able to vote for up to 3 designs to be included in the shortlist for consideration by the jury, and voting was open from Thursday 3 December until Friday 18 December.

 

The 3 top-scoring designs (in numerical order, not by scores) were:

277 members voted, casting a total of 632 votes. The 3 top-scoring designs received 109, 98 and 88 votes each. 47 votes were cast for retaining the current design in preference to one of the new designs.

 

The other 6 designs received 65, 64, 57, 43, 37 and 24 votes each.

 

The 3 top-scoring designs therefore constitute the shortlist for consideration by the jury, who are:

• Jill Luedke, moderator, Art & Design School Library Division
• Eileen Markson, Art Documentation Copy Editor
• Barbara Rominski, Executive Board liaison, Communications and Publications Committee
• Lee Viverette, member-at-large, Communications and Publications Committee

 

The results of the vote, and the eventual decision of the jury, will be reviewed and ratified by the Executive Board. The jury will begin its deliberations early in the New Year.
