am Dienstag, 17. November 2009, findet ab 18Uhr (9 AM PST) ein weiterer
bibliotheksfachlicher Vortrag auf der "Insel der Information" - der
Repräsentanz der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek in Second Life - statt. Dr.
Irmhild Schäfer (Institut für Buch- und Handschriftenrestaurierung der
Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, Avatar in Second Life: Filomena Lavendel) wird in
englischer Sprache über Aspekte der Konservierung bei der Massendigitalisierung
berichten.
Zeitgleich zur virtuellen Veranstaltung wird der Vortrag in den Kleinen
Sitzungssaal der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek übertragen. Seien Sie auch
herzlich willkommen im Kleinen Sitzungssaal in der Ludwigstr. 16, 80539 München.
Der Vortrag nimmt wichtige konservatorische Aspekte der Massendigitalisierung
an der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek in den Blick und richtet den Focus auf die
Materialität historischer Drucke und ihren Einfluss auf die
Massendigitalisierung.

Manuscript Conservation (IBR) of the Bavarian State Library, Second Life

Abstract:
The talk deals with important aspects of conservation within the mass
digitization activities of the Bavarian State Library. The focus is on the
materiality of rare books and its impact on mass digitization.
