A student is looking for information about museums using their art collection to market themselves.  For example, putting an image on a cup or a mouse pad and selling it.

I’ve tried words like marketing, commodification, branding, but have only been able to find a few items about the practice, not really anything about it from a critical perspective.  I don’t know if I’m just not thinking of the right words, or if there isn’t anything written on this topic.

If you have any ideas, would you email me off list?

Thanks.
