Nearly 100% of the time an undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required (studio art, art history, etc.). I would add that most academic library positions *prefer* a master's degree (or PhD) in a related subject discipline, but do not require one. I am basing this comment on a job-description analysis the PDC did a while back and on my own experience. However, museum and visual resources positions do almost always *require* the master's or doctorate.
