Nearly 100% of the time an undergraduate degree in a related discipline
is required (studio art, art history, etc.). I would add that most
academic library positions *prefer* a master's degree (or PhD) in a
related subject discipline, but do not require one. I am basing this
comment on a job-description analysis the PDC did a while back and on my
own experience.

However, museum and visual resources positions do almost always
*require* the master's or doctorate.
