ARLIS/NA 38th Annual Conference - Call for Moderators

Revolution and Innovation: At the Hub of Discovery

The ARLIS/NA 38th Annual Conference in Boston, MA (April 23-26, 2010) will explore revolution and innovation within art librarianship and visual resources librarianship as new technologies, economic changes and other factors transform our profession. The Program Committee is looking for volunteers to act as moderators for the sessions. Sessions fall within one of five thematic areas: Future of Art and Visual Resources Librarianship, Collection Development, Emerging Technologies, Reference and Instruction, and Visual Resources.

Moderator Responsibilities

Moderators will collaborate with presenters on the following:

Naming the session
Writing a 75-100 word abstract of the session for the program
Developing questions for the session
Ensuring visuals are used for the presentation

The moderator will also:

Introduce the presenters
Act as time-keeper for presenters
Lead the Q&A section of the session
Assist the presenters with presentation, if needed
Submit the session presentations to the Conference Proceedings Editor

Program Committee Responsibilities

The Program Committee will split the sessions and each member of the Committee will be assigned to support a group of moderators.

Program Committee members will:

Monitor moderator’s progress
Answer any questions from moderators
Gather session names and abstracts in time for the development and printing of the program
