Transitional Librarian (Grant Funded 12-month appointment)

The Speed Art Museum, Louisville, Kentucky seeks candidates for full
time temporary librarian to oversee the transition of the library
including: coordinating cataloguing of the Speed Museum Library’s Core
Resource Collection; transferring volumes to the University of
Louisville (UofL) Library; and deaccessioning of remaining volumes. 
Librarian will manage the library provide assistance with available
resources.

Primary responsibilities include writing and implementing policies and
procedures for transition of library holdings; documenting process;
managing development of Core Resource Collection to be housed at the
Museum; coordinating transfer of volumes to UofL; coordinating sale of
volumes approved for deaccessioning; managing routine aspects of the
Museum’s library; and planning organization, housing, and accessibility
of archives.

Qualifications: degree in Library Science (equivalent training and
experience), MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program preferred;
two-years experience, preferably in an art library; experience in
library transitions, including developing limited resource collection,
and deaccessioning; knowledge of art history and museum practices,
familiarity with archival practice preferred; strong interpersonal and
oral and written communication.  Reading knowledge of Western European
language desired.
