Dear ARLIS/NA members: At its July meeting, the ARLIS/NA Executive Board passed a motion to dissolve the Standards committee. Members of the committee, meeting with liaison Heidi Hass in Indianapolis, agreed that it had become moribund, as its main recent (2006) completed project was the Digital Image Database Standards Checklist. It is unclear whether a current incomplete project compiling a standard list of core journals is feasible and desirable; if it is the Collections Development special interest group will take responsibility for it. The Board agreed that standards should be addressed by task forces comprised of members with expertise in the required area.
