Dear Collective Wisdom,
I am trying to find the life dates for the dress & costume designer Grace Ripley for one of our curators and am having no luck. She was based in Boston and also taught apparel design at RISD from 1931 - 1945. She may have died while on the faculty but I can't confirm this. She had a place of business called Ripley Studios in Boston that was active between 1919 - 1923 if not longer. She created costumes for Ted Shawn and Ruth St. Denis. In 1921, the Harvard Crimson mentions her as the designer of costumes for a Hasty Pudding club production called "Wetward Ho!. " I have also seen her name associated with an organization called Boylston Studio of Costume Design in Boston.
Anyone have any suggestions? Or possible have her birth and death dates? I would be forever grateful.
Thank you all
Cheers
Joyce
