Dear
collective wisdom --
Do you know
of a carpeted library with tall compact shelving whose top shelves must be
reached with a portable, rolling ladder?
The Bard
Graduate Center Library is just such a place, and we are in dire need
of good ladders that can roll easily over the carpeting as well as fit
through the narrow openings of the compact shelves. Our current rolling
ladders (lightweight, spring-loaded aluminum models from library vendors like
Highsmith) must surely work on hard flooring surfaces like linoleum or
wood, but are absolutely useless on our carpet, where they skid and stick,
then trip and enrage the unlucky souls who must use them.
If your
library has carpeted floors and you have rolling ladders that work well on the
carpet (or if you know of another carpeted library we could contact
re: their ladders), please respond off-list.
Kind
regards --
