On the Education Subcommittee we are working to generate ideas for
professional development activities - possibly some webinars, virtual
"brown bag" type discussions, toolkits, etc. If anyone has suggestions
for *topics* please let us know! Fresh ideas are welcome! As Sheila
points out, the issue of "staying relevant" to our organizations and
users seems particularly critical right now. Visual resources
departments seem to be the target of many recent staff reductions.
Maybe we could develop programming around this issue, or on skills like
re-tooling resumes? Let us know what you think.

Additionally, I would hope that the network of friends and colleagues
built up over the years in ARLIS/NA and in VRA would prove to be a good
resource for folks being laid off. It can't be easy though.

Best,
Heather
(Chair, ARLIS/NA Education Subcommittee)
