Colleagues,
To clarify (unofficially) the news from Chicago... management of the
MacLean Visual Resources collection is being transferred from the
Museum's Ryerson & Burnham Libraries to the School's Flaxman
Library. It's a difficult transition, and not one that either
library initiated. Visual resources staffing has been reduced from
five to three full-time positions. Part-time and special projects
positions have also been lost.
Sadly, one of the positions lost was that of Director of the MacLean
Visual Resources Center. As those of you who have been following
this listserv know, Leigh Gates held that position for 23 years as a
valued colleague and respected contributor to our community. Those
of us on the School side will do our best to continue the programs
and plans that she has so expertly designed. Leigh, being a
consummate professional, is graciously helping us in every way that
she can. Her daily presence will be missed.
Leigh is in the process of getting broadband access at home, so
should be back in direct communication with all of you soon.
