DETAILS:
Applications for the study tour are now being received by Linda Seckelson (l[log in to unmask]), and the last day we will accept them is June 1, 2009.  Applicants will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis.  Applications arriving on the same day will be recognized based on the time they arrive.

The Initiative for Continuing Education in Academic and Research-Oriented Special Libraries and Related Institutions is overseeing the local arrangements, providing a tour leader, and funding some in-country expenses (amount to be determined).  In return, the ARLIS/NA participants are asked to write a concise case study on the kind of planning, reorganization, new management structures, and development of new strategies being undertaken to address the future (sustainability, new information technologies, new research behaviors, etc.) of his/her library.

Linda Seckelson will compile and present these case studies as part of a larger presentation following the Study Tour at the Fall meeting of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Kunst- und Museums Bibliotheken (AKMB) in Nüremburg on October 29-30.  Applicants must supply a brief description (several sentences) of their case study on the application form.  The more developed paper (2-3 pages) will be due to Linda Seckelson September 14, 2009.

The study tour will be able to accommodate 12 ARLIS/NA members. Unfortunately, spouses and partners will not be able to join the participants on this trip.

Study trip participants will be notified on June 15 if they are accepted into the trip, or if they are an alternate.  All accepted participants will have until July 1 to send their deposit.  If any applicant fails to secure their place in the program on July 1, alternate applicants will then be given the opportunity to submit their security deposit.

There is no fee, other than a $300 deposit due JULY 1, 2009 which will be applicable to in-country travel and meals.
