Dear Colleagues,

For some reason which irritates me, I am not allowed to send comments to the CAAH email list. Could someone of you who can do this, please respond to CAA members about what should be obvious about the critical issue of the demise of BHA? Ray Anne Lockard

Subject: BHA

To the List,
I would like to follow up on Vernon Minor's observations on the Bibliography of the History of Art.
There are very few tools for compiling bibliographies on art.
One specialized example is in the annual compilation of publications on northern European art, sponsored by the Historians of Netherlandish Art.
The BHA has been -- at least so I thought -- indispensable to the discipline of art history.
It is the only single resource for gaining as complete as possible a list of relevant publications for an author or a topic.
But as there seems no outcry about the loss of the BHA, one wonders how many in the field rely, or even use, it.
Does this imply that we learn about publications from other sources, such as personal contact or bibliographic citations in specific publications?
I welcome discussion on this issue,
Amy Golahny
