The ARLIS/NA Executive Board invites applications for the position of ARLIS/NA Reviews Editor. Joan Stahl, who has held the position starting with the winter 1992 issue of Art Documentation, is stepping down this year.
ARLIS/NA Reviews, an online feature available on the society’s Web site, provides insightful evaluations of new and recent publications in a wide range of topics in art, design, architecture, and related fields, with particular emphasis on scholarly, professional, and reference publications.
The ARLIS/NA Reviews Editor is appointed by the President for a two-year, renewable, term. The incumbent works with the ARLIS/NA Web Site Editor and participates on the Communications & Publications Committee. The Reviews Editor is responsible for all content posted to the reviews feature on the ARLIS/NA Web site. The editor works closely with publishers, reviewers and the Society’s Web site Editor to establish a posting timetable and determine feature content.
Major Responsibilities:
Members with proven editorial experience, knowledge of research methods and documentation of art history, and familiarity with art publishing and resources are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and résumé (electronic format preferred) to me at the address below by May 1, 2009. Any inquiries about the position may also be directed to this address.
An evaluation subcommittee consisting of the chair of the Communications and Publications Committee, ARLIS/NA appointed editors, and a representative from the Reference and Information Services Section will review applications. Candidates who submit résumés by April 15 and plan to attend the annual conference in Indianapolis will be invited to meet with a member of the subcommittee for an interview, but all qualified applicants will be given full consideration. The subcommittee will make a recommendation to the ARLIS/NA Executive Board for appointment no later than May 15, 2009.
