Dear colleagues, These books books are reprints of the Salon catalogs, with precious introductions and indexes. For example, in the book published for the period 1881-1883, there is an essay by Dominique Lobstein (who works in Musée d'Orsay) devoted to the Salon held in 1883. Echelle de Jacob publishes also books about other French Salons (organized in Lyon, Dijon...). Here you can find a review, in French : http://www.latribunedelart.com/Publications/Publications_2008/Echelle_Jacob_579.htm There is also a review in English for "Les salons de Lille de l'Ancien Régime à la Restauration", published in : Journal of the history of collections, 2006, 18 (2), p. 292-294.
