Hello All,
I just wanted to thank you to all the wonderful fellow
librarians out there who took time out of their busy day to send me helpful
information on archiving. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a generous, supportive
community. I only hope that I will be able to return the favor in the future!
Just in case anyone is interested here are the top resources
suggested to me:
1.
Wythe, D. (2004). Museum archives: An introduction.
Chicago: Society of American Archivists.
2.
Society of American Archivists. (2005). Describing
archives: A content standard. Chicago, Ill: Soc. of American Archivists.
3.
Art Libraries Society/UK and Eire. (2004). First
steps in archives: A practical guide. [S.l.]: ARLIS/UK & Ireland Art
Libraries Society.
4.
Roe, K. (2005). Arranging & describing archives
& manuscripts. Archival fundamentals series. Chicago: Society of
American Archivists.
There were also some wonderful workshops and online classes,
such as the Modern Archives Institute and the AASLH’s The Basics of
Archives, that were brought to my attention.
Thanks again,
Caroline
