Cataloging Art I am a new graduate student in library and information science at LSU. I am also a fairly new employee at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, LA where I am trying to help implement cataloging standards for the art collection. I have done some initial research on cataloging art, and have found more information than I know what to do with at this point. I was hoping someone could offer me some guidance or refer me to someone else who could help me. My initial questions are:

Which standards do most museums use for cataloging their art? If I understand correctly, there are many sets of standards (CDWA, VRA, and of course, AACR2). Do museums follow one set of standards, or do they implement standards from various guidelines to suit their local needs?

I truly appreciate any guidance anyone can offer. Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,
Kristi Kohl
