Subject: Traveling to the Conference

We are looking forward to seeing you in Indianapolis at this year’s ARLIS/NA
conference. Here is information to help you get started making your travel
plans.

Traveling by Air

Indianapolis International  Airport (IND)
[http://www.indianapolisairport.com/] is located 16 miles from downtown
Indianapolis. Newly renovated and reopened in 2008, this airport is
considered virtually new as it boasts a brand new passenger terminal,
parking structure and additional freeway access. The terminal includes a
large civic plaza, environmentally friendly design, and the third tallest
FFA tower in the U.S. Free wireless is available throughout the terminal.
Baggage is located on the lower level.

The terminal features notable public art including work by internationally
acclaimed sculptor John Van Alstine. Artwork by several prominent Indiana
artists is also highlighted. For further information about the artwork at

To access ground transportation from the airport to the The Downtown
Indianapolis Marriott, exit the terminal and look for signs directing you to
the Ground Transportation Center. A list of ground transportation options is

The IndyGo Airport Express Route [http://www.indygo.net/green_line.htm] is
the simplest way to get to the hotel from the airport (besides Taxi).  
IndyGo provides non-stop service from the airport to convenient locations
near major downtown hotels and the Indiana Convention Center. Green Line
service runs daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $7 per trip. The closest
stop to our hotel is the Convention Center stop on Maryland Street.
According to IndyGo’s Green line information, travel time from Downtown Indy
to the Airport is 15 minutes. See the IndyGo website for maps, routes and
other more detailed information.

The Indianapolis International Airport has two curbside taxi-stands on the
lower level immediately outside of baggage pick-up. Look for the signs
overhead and push the “call button” to request a car. Cabs can carry up to
four passengers and accept all major credit cards. Cabs are available from
4:00 AM until 30 minutes after the last flight of the day, even if delayed.
Estimated cost for a taxi cab ride to the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown
Hotel is $30-34 one-way. Travel from and to the airport to downtown Indy
should take no longer than 15-20 minutes (except during rush hour; about 30
minutes).

Special Note: For those of you interested in taking the Bloomington or the
Columbus tour on Tuesday, Apr. 21, the buses will stop by the Airport before
or at 5:00 pm on their way back to Indianapolis, should you want to book an
early evening flight home.

Traveling by Train

The Amtrak Station is located in downtown Indianapolis (350 S. Illinois St.
Indianapolis, IN 46225) and is within a few blocks of the Downtown
Indianapolis Marriott conference hotel.  Taxi service is available from the

Traveling by Car

From the Airport
I-70 East to West Street exit #79A. Turn left (north) onto
West St. Turn right (east) onto Maryland St. The hotel will be on your left.

From the North via I-65 South (Chicago)
I-65 to West Street Exit #144.  
Continue south on Martin Luther King St./West St. to Maryland St.  Turn left
onto Maryland St.

From the North via I-69 South (Fort Wayne)
I-69 S to I-465 S to I-70 West
St. to I-65 N. Exit on West Street #114.  Continue south on Martin Luther
King St./West St. to Maryland St.  Turn left on Maryland St.

From the East via I-70 West (Ohio)
I-70 W to I-65 N. Exit on West Street
#114. Continue south on Martin Luther King St./ West St. to Maryland Street.
Turn left on Maryland St.

From the East via I-74 (Cincinnati)
I-74 West to I-465 South to I-65 N to
I-70 W. Exit on West St. #79A. Continue north on West St./Missouri St. to
Maryland St.. Turn right on Maryland St.

From the South via I-65 North (Louisville)
I-65 N to I-70 W. Exit on West
St. exit #79A. Continue north on West St./Missouri St. Turn right on
Maryland St.

From the West via I-70 (Illinois)
I-70 E to West St., exit #79A.  Continue
north on West St./Missouri St. Turn right on Maryland St.

Parking at the hotel ($27/day). Valet parking is located in front of hotel
on Maryland St. Self-parking in the garage is available on the east side of
Missouri St.
