Keynote Speaker Laura Packer

Laura Packer has been telling stories her whole life! As the daughter of a children’s librarian and writer, it was inevitable that she would become a storyteller. Her love of folktales led her to obtain a degree in folklore and mythology from Boston University. As an internationally renowned storyteller/teacher, she has shared her love of storytelling with staff from NASA’s Goddard Space Center to individuals from Boston’s Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN).

Stand Up & Speak Out: Applied Storytelling

In this workshop, Laura Packer will show participants the value of stories, why stories matter and how to select the right one for your audience. Practice storytelling skills and get tips on how to handle sticky situations.

Breakout Sessions

The Art and Play of Improvisational Storytelling

This session with Laura Packer will guide participants through collaborative exercises guaranteed to help them get comfortable during a performance.

Beyond the Voice: Language/Body/Heart and the Art of Storytelling

Brazilian native Antonio Rocha delights audiences with his unique blend of mime and storytelling. Join Rocha in this participatory session, filled with fun and movement. Discover the physical aspects of storytelling in bringing characters to life. Learn staging techniques to better serve the plot of the story.

Learn the Art of Storytelling through the Magic of Origami

A native of Japan, Kuniko Yamamoto grew up studying traditional dance, music and theater. Practice paper folding and basic origami techniques and take home 4-6 origami models.
