I liked that site that Carol Terry mentioned since it includes a list of 
  characters.

Mystery readers may also be interested in this web site, 
<http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/>.  The site lists authors 
alphabetically, titles are listed by series and UK publication date.  A 
thumbnail image of the book cover and a summary is included for many of 
the books.
