Princeton University's graphic arts collection holds Lucas Fielding's The Art of Colouring and Painting Landscapes in Water Colours...Baltimore, 1815; and a number of other early American manuals and sample books. We also have an extensive collection of original dealer's catalogues, both European and American. The Grolier Club's exhibition "Teaching American to Draw" 2006, covered the topic very well and most of the materials in this show from private collections are also held at Princeton.
