Hi ARLIS, Good to talk to you all again. I received an overwhelming number of responses to my Asian art question from both art librarians and East Asian librarians. I will summarize for the list as soon as I can next week. But, it looks like a refrain here, that we need are sources for Asian material for Art Libraries. At UVA, we have a new strategic plan that calls for increased resources to be put to international programs, including deep research in East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Latin America for now. Librarians are coming out of their comfort zones in many cases, but its a great opportunity for specialists. We are seeing this collection push in both print, online, and visual resources. Pretty exciting, huh?! I think this would make a good panel or workshop for ARLIS 2010 (Boston). Having a discussion of collecting Asian materials and materials in the Middle East would be most helpful.
